We considered destroying it, but it is such a unique piece of technology, and now that it's in our possession we should at least learn more and hopefully discover its origins. Plus it makes awfully compelling arguments for why we should let it live. For now it is stored here in HQ to prevent it from hurting any more Derelicts.
